Congratulations on deciding to get on the treadmill! There are countless jokes referencing how boring it can be… but I totally don’t get it. I LOVE the treadmill. It’s literally my favorite.

You’ll see exercise recommended OFTEN as a first course of treatment for depression. There is absolutely no question in anyone’s mind that exercise = endorphins = happy feeling. Until two years ago, I had never run a mile in my life. I consider myself pre-disposed to athletic aversion. I really prefer drinking wine and surfing pinterest. With chocolate. There might have been times I was supposed to run, like in school, but I used to hide in this big doorway until the end of class and then coming “running” out as though I had been at it the whole time. Regardless of your fitness level or ability as a runner, a good playlist makes every work out seem more than a little bit easier. I actually can’t quite imagine a run without my music – the sound of my feet on the ground makes me tired. (I probably don’t have a bright future as a marathon runner, but I’m very ok with that. I LOVE running just for fun, especially when it doesn’t matter how fast I go!) When I have a great playlist it is far easier for me to workout, and since I believe regular exercise is imperative to intentional living, I guess that makes a playlist imperative too! (more…)
