Lazy Girl Cleaning Hacks That ACTUALLY Work

Lazy Girl Cleaning Hacks That ACTUALLY Work

It might seem contradictory that I can claim love for “lazy-girl” cleaning hacks, and still state that I am living on purpose. But I think “living on purpose” can mean that we accept that we can’t do it all. So we choose to do the absolute best that we can, and we prioritize.

It’s no secret that I struggle with cleaning. Not that I don’t like to do it… just that it gets put on my back burner, even though a clean house is a priority for me. So I’m always looking for the little tricks that will make keeping things clean a just a bit easier.

Here are my favorite lazy cleaning hacks, and only ones that ACTUALLY work. (FYI, there are a bunch of cleaning hacks out there that flat out do not work. I get SO irritated every time I see the box of fabric softener sheets that I bought specifically for dusting my baseboards…because Pinterest told me to. And raise your hand if you’ve wasted hours trying to get your pans to sparkle?? (more…)

4 Clean Kitchen Habits You NEED to Adopt

Coming home at the end of the day when my kitchen is clean. My favorite.

I love setting my purse down in the kitchen, and standing there NOT feeling overwhelmed by mess. (Maybe you’ve always had a clean kitchen, in which case you might not totally relate to what I’m about to say here. But if you’re reading this there’s a good chance that maybe you don’t always have a clean kitchen…)

Walking into my clean kitchen feels a little bit like when painkillers start to kick in. You know, if you’ve had a brutal headache, or cramps, or backache. And you take a Tylenol and 20 minutes later you can feel the relief and life is just better. (I’m not crazy, this is a real thing!)

I used to be messy. I HATED it. It was like the mess was causing me physical pain. Even though it’s been a few months now since I quit being messy, I can still feel the relief that not living in a mess brings. I can still appreciate that not messy is just SO much better than messy. It. Is. Awesome.  (more…)

Seriously, it’s a big deal

Claiming that anything is “life changing” is pretty cliche, I know. It’s the sort of statement we throw around, but it doesn’t really mean anything…

So I should really call this post something else, but I’m struggling to come up with anything less cliche that could actually convey just HOW MUCH this simple change in my habits has improved my life at home.

I’ve stopped being messy. I do this thing where I put stuff away now. (more…)

7 Things You Aren’t Cleaning – That You Should Be

7 Things You Aren’t Cleaning – That You Should Be

(This post probably contains affiliate links. Our full disclosure policy is really boring, but you can find it here.)

Just when I think my house is clean…

Ever stumble upon a tiny particular area of your home that makes you stop short with the realization that you live with grossness? Things you aren’t cleaning – but should be?

I sure do. A few times a year at least. Sure we all clean the floors, the toilet bowls, the counter tops. When we’re deep cleaning in the spring or fall we might de-scale the faucets or wipe under the cabinets and bleach out our garbage cans. If we’re really ambitious we’ll move the fridge and the stove – we all know it gets gross under those.

In my home, there are a few things that get super gross and I DON’T EVEN notice. Until I notice, that is. I’ve making a mental list as I come across these areas, so I can keep an eye on them and try and stay on top of the grossness. And despite my commitment to chemical free cleaning, you can bet some of these are areas where I use some bleach. (If you’re looking for great all natural cleaners in Canada, Well.ca has free shipping on orders over $29.00!)

(I’ll demonstrate with pictures here, just for fun, and I won’t clean the areas before I photograph them… to show you what I mean. Just don’t judge me too harshly ok?) For reference, the current state of my house is CLEAN, as in, unexpected guests would be more than welcome. (more…)
